In the land of Desk

My desk is like an ever changing landscape subject to the tides of my creativity. Most of the time it's a mess. I love it though, it has become a home away from home, away from home.

The Swan Maiden.

This small narrative came out of the location drawings I last uploaded.

They're all done with pencil on top of water colour.

A little bit of backtracking.

I can't quite believe it: I've been back at uni for 3 weeks now and I haven't done one little drawing, not even a thumbnail on a scrap of paper! However, with a studio based module on the horizon, and the promise of thumbnails aplenty, I thought it would be a good idea to catch up with uploading some of the work from last year that have been sadly neglected in the dusty and deeply buried files of my computer.

All these images were done on location around Plymouth and were made using watercolour and pencils.

A Summer Offering

The summer always starts off with such promise. It's in the air of the lengthening days as much as within the beginnings of my good intentions. However, as with our typical English summers, the number of pages filled in my sketchbook is somewhat disappointing. Somehow, all the little pieces of my life that I can easily set aside while at Uni, takes over when I'm home. How does this happen? Anyway, excuses aside, here is my small and humble offering to appease the Gods of  my guilty conscious..........

The very loose theme throughout was "Family Tree" as my mum and sister we researching ours at the time.

Macbeth Poster

I am part of an amateur theatre company called The Hatch Theatre Project who, this summer, are putting on a production of "Macbeth". I made this poster as a kind of teaser. All the text (apart from the blog address at the bottom) are hand cut out of paper! I don't pretend to know anything about graphics or to be any good at it, but I think that the time I put into cutting the writing out (especially the joined up) has to count for something?!!!!
Anyway, if anyone fancies supporting The Hatch Theatre Project and help us at least break even! then please check out   our blog address (possible web address to follow). There isn't much information there yet but there will be soooooon!!

Nights at the Circus

This pen and watercolour depicts the Princess of Abyssinia who is in charge of the Tigers.

A carriage conveying Fevvers rushes through a deep Russian winter. Pen and watercolour.
